Yachtmaster Prep & ExaminationThe Yachtmaster certificate of competence is a highly regarded qualification, and rightly so. Candidates must ensure that they have all the pre-exam requirements in place before undertaking the prep and examination. They are as follows: SRC certificate, First Aid certificate (note RYA only accepts certain qualifying bodies). Seatime - 2,500 miles logged including at least five passages over 60 miles, acting as skipper for at least two of these passages and including two which have involved overnight passages. Five days experience as skipper. At least half the qualifying seatime must have been in tidal waters. All seatime must have been within 10 years prior to examination.
