Our Beneteau First 40.7 is the perfect multi-use sailing yacht that is both fast and comfortable. She has all the best features of the ideal cruiser racer. Her hull and powerful fractional rig, with no runners and an adjustable backstay, produce a fast and stable ride. The mast is keel stepped for added security.
She is a great platform with a blistering turn of speed, and can be trimmed for performance in almost any condition we face. The spacious cockpit is thoughtfully laid out to offer ease of handling at the wheel and to give simple sheet and line management.
Down below she has three double cabins and enough room to swing a cat (should you bring one). As a cruising boat her speed opens up more options for destinations than many similar vessels. Jump aboard and it’s entirely feasible to leave Conwy and get to Ireland before the pubs shut. As a racer the 40.7 has a favourable IRC rating and has many wins to her credit, whether it be round the cans or the Fastnet.
The layout of the 40.7 offers two aft double berths, two main cabin berths (settee), and one double berth in the forward compartment. If you are joining as a single crewmember, you may request single occupancy cabin for which there would be a small supplement. Alternatively you could ask for a berth in the main cabin, but that would mean you’d be the last into bed!
The spacious aft cabins are equipped with 12v sockets, shore powered heater, and a discretion panel/lee cloth.
Lately we have been giving ‘North Star’ a little TLC. we’re still chasing round a few of the dinks and chips in the gel coat that inevitably happen to a school boat, and she’s got new saloon cushions that give her a much more stylish and warm feel. There’s a whole lot of other work going on aboard her in the background too: gas certification, safety equipment maintenance, standing and running rigging inspections, lift out and hull cleaning. All of these things are routinely boring, but massively important to us and also for you.
In terms of electronics, North Star has had significant upgrades. We now operate a new instrumentation suite from B&G (generally recognised as the finest of sailing systems).
