Yacht racing has a variety of forms. It may involve a few hours dashing around the cans, or a test of endurance and resilience on a passage race. We at BOOM enjoy all forms of racing.

We would be delighted to introduce you to racing through a low-key short event, perhaps a club race in Conwy or, if you are more experienced, something a bit more frenetic such as the IRC Nationals in Pwhlleli. Our longer distance races include the Irish Sea Offshore Racing (ISORA) events.

A great yacht racing team needs a whole range of abilities, with each team member delivering their particular skill set in a sometimes demanding environment. Everybody has their own strengths and here at BOOM we aim to highlight those strengths, build on the weaknesses, and develop a deeper understanding of the art of yacht racing.

Your skipper, Cris, has competed at International level at numerous European and World Championships, taking podium places at a number of those competitions. Cris also skippered the yacht that holds the record (on corrected time) for the Round Anglesey Race (photo below) and took the Class 2 Trophy for the Scottish Islands Peaks Race (SIPR) 2015. Cris also won the SIPR outright in 2016.
